A Coporate Day at Datchet Watersports
Plan For Team Building Day
Number Of Participants: 30
Time: 09:00 – 16:30
The main idea of the day is to give the participants a chance to try a new sport or improve their skills in one that they have done before.
The water based sports that we can offer are Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Power-boating & Land-based sailing activities. In addition to this, the groups will be organised into teams for fun team building exercises using the sports above.
The whole day will be based onsite at The Queen Mother Reservoir using both the facilities and equipment of Datchet Watersports and Datchet Water Sailing Club. The downstairs wet clubroom will be used as the base for the registration and briefing, the boardroom as the meeting room and the Datchet Watersports Training Room whilst people are involved in the activities.
The food and refreshments that will be provided are: A buffet lunch or barbecue depending on the weather conditions and refreshments at the end of the day. Bar can be available at the end of the day. No alcohol to be served during on water activities.

Breakdown Of Activities
Dinghy Sailing
This is our main activity that the participants will learn. Initially, each group will be taught how to rig up their dinghies and how to steer them on the land. This will be done as a land based drill. After this, they will then be sent out on the water in dinghies, either with instructors in the boats with them or on their own in the basic single-handed dinghies. There will be adequate rescue cover provided and plenty of instructors in these rescue boats in order to both ensure the safety and enjoyment of the participants. By the end of their time dinghy sailing, the students should be able to competently sail the dinghies where they want to go and also be able to compete in an informal race series at the end of the session.
Windsurfing
These sessions are run on a similar basis to that of the dinghy sailing above. The students will learn the basic drill of how to sail and steer the windsurf kit. Again by the end of the session they will be able to competently sail the boards where they want to go and also be able to compete in an informal race at the end of the session.
Powerboat Rib Rides
These sessions will involve a large RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) which will take the group on a fast and exciting ride around the entire area of the reservoir. The RIB will be driven by a fully qualified and competent Powerboat Instructor.
Land Based Activities
These will be based around the principle of fun and team building exercises. This includes activities such as using remote controlled dinghies in communication exercises and mini race tournaments. We also have many problem solving challenges which we can incorporate into the day.
Kit You Need To Bring
Towel; Swimwear to go under wetsuit; Footwear that can get wet, an old pair of trainers is fine.
We will provide wetsuits, buoyancy aids and waterproofs. If you have your own and would like to bring them, please feel free.
Catering
The plan would be for tea and coffee in the morning with a barbecue lunch (weather permitting) and a desert. We could also supply refreshments throughout the day and some fun prizes at the end of the day.
